7 Cup Cake/ Burfi

If you're looking for a quick yet delicious Indian sweet for special occasions, 7 Cup Cake or 7 Cup Burfi is perfect! Known for its simplicity and mouth-watering taste, this burfi is named for its unique measurement method — just seven cups of ingredients in total! This treat has a creamy, fudge-like texture and rich flavor that everyone, from kids to adults, will love.

This burfi is a variation of the classic Mysore Pak but with an added sweetness and richness, thanks to the use of grated coconut. It is incredibly easy to make and doesn’t require the precision that many other Indian sweets do, making it ideal for beginners.

Ingredients:

  • Gram flour (besan) - 1 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  •  Ghee - 1 cup
  •  Milk - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 3 cups (adjust to taste)

Total: 7 cups of ingredients!

Method:

  • Grease a plate or tray with ghee and keep it aside. This will be used to set the burfi once cooked.
  • Measure all the ingredients accurately to ensure the perfect consistency.
  • In a heavy-bottomed pan, add the gram flour and roast in medium flame till you get nice aroma.
  • Now add grated coconut, milk, and sugar.
  • Stir well to combine, making sure there are no lumps in the mixture.
  • Now add ghee and mix well.
  • Place the pan on medium heat and keep stirring continuously. The mixture will start to thicken and bubble as it cooks.
  • Continue stirring until the mixture begins to leave the sides of the pan and reaches a thick, flowing consistency. It will come as a single mass. This usually takes around 15-20 minutes.
  • Once the mixture starts coming together into a smooth mass, pour it immediately onto the greased plate.
  • Spread it evenly with a spatula to about ½-inch thickness. Be careful, as the mixture will be hot.
  • Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, but don’t let it set completely. It will cool fast.
  • Once slightly cooled, use a knife to cut it into square or diamond shapes. Let it set completely before removing the pieces.
  • Your 7 Cup Burfi is now ready to serve! Store it in an airtight container, and it will stay fresh for up to a week.

Tips:

  • Ensure you cook the mixture until it starts leaving the sides of the pan for a firm yet soft texture.
  • If you prefer a less sweet version, you can reduce the sugar slightly. Just make sure it remains enough to help set the burfi.
  • Stir continuously to prevent the mixture
