We generally think what side dish to make for dinner that goes well with chapati or dosa. We would generally like to make something different and tasty. Capsicum masala is a simple and easy to make side dish which is very tasty.
Ingredients:
- Capsicum – 2 (medium sized Chopped into 1 inch cubes)
- Onions – 2 (chopped finely)
- Green Chillies – 3 (slit lengthwise)
- Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp.
- Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp.
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp.
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp.
- Dhania Powder – 2 tsps.
- Salt – 1 tsp. or as needed
- Oil – 3 tsps.
- Coriander Leaves – a handful for garnishing
- Water – ½ cup
For Grinding:
- Tomatoes – 3
- Cashew Nuts – 6
- Cinnamon Stick – 1
- Cloves – 2
Method:
- Grind tomatoes, cashew nuts, cinnamon sticks and cloves to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and fry for half a minute in low flame.
- Add green chillies and onions and fry till onions turn transparent.
- Add ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes.
- Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
- Fry in low flame for 6 minutes unitil raw smell of masala goes.
- Now add tomato puree and half cup of water and cook till oil floats on top.
- Add capsicum pieces and close the lid and cook till capsicum becomes soft.
- When the gravy thickens, switch off the stove and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with chapathi or dosa.
